A few months back, East Memphis resident Bill McWaters was enjoying his weekly tennis match with a good friend. During the match, he began to notice he could not get the tennis balls to the net. He knew something was wrong and told his friend, "I am having a stroke.” After a stay at one of the local hospitals, he was transferred to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital-North to complete his stroke rehabilitation.
Bill's wife of 56 years, Bebe, recalls how "all the staff went far and above what they had to.” She also said, “Immediately upon his arrival to HealthSouth-North, the nursing staff lifted his spirits and gave him hope.”
The couple both agreed "all of the staff were so caring and personable.” Bebe gives an example of how one physical therapist came in on a Saturday, which was his day off, just to share new exercises and therapy that he felt would benefit Bill's recovery.
The McWaters went on to say, “We are so glad we chose HealthSouth-North because of the wonderful doctors and staff that helped Bill on the road to recovery. If you have to be in a rehabilitation hospital, there is none better.”
When discussing the distance between her home in East Memphis and the location of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital-North near the Bartlett/Raleigh area, Bebe said, "It is definitely worth the drive for the level of care we received.”
